Center Inc.
The Uranium Medical Research Centre (UMRC) is
an independent non-profit organization founded in 1997 to provide objective
and expert scientific and medical research into the effects of uranium,
transuranium elements, and radionuclides produced by the process of

Families Against
Radioactive Exposure
1500 members strong! FARE's mandate is to stop radioactive
pollution in Port Hope. Our focus is to stop the project to produce
SEU - or other dangerous products - in the flood plain of the Ganaraska
River.
Lake Ontario Waterkeeper
Lake Ontario Waterkeeper fulfills its mission by educating
the public about Lake Ontario and the Great Lakes Basin and by conducting
research and public education activities on behalf of the watershed.
Our goal is to restore and protect Lake Ontario's natural resources,
as well as contribute to its aesthetic, social recreational and economic
values.

Most of these articles refer to the nuclear industry's legacy in the
region.
The
Low Level Radiation Campaign
Researching the effects of Low Level Ionising Radiation.
Demanding a re-evaluation of the risks from man-made fission products.
For 50 years the nuclear establishment has defended itself by claiming
that its discharges are harmless.
But even the smallest amounts of man-made radioactivity can cause genetic
damage leading to cancer, leukaemia, still birth, birth defects and
other health problems which may only become apparent in future generations.
We are not necessarily talking about accidents - this is happening at
levels of discharge which are legal and authorised. It is the biggest
and longest running health scandal of all time.
The Low Level Radiation Campaign has been working since 1992 to expose
it.
There are two main strands to the Campaign:
We show that the
science underpinning the establishment view of radiation risk is deeply
flawed.
If the science is wrong, then you'd expect health effects from radioactive
pollution. We find them, and collect similar results from other researchers.
Great
Lakes United
Great Lakes United is an international coalition
dedicated to preserving and restoring the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence
River ecosystem. Great Lakes United is made up of member organizations
representing environmentalists, conservationists, hunters and anglers,

David
Suzuki Foundation
Whenever Dr. Suzuki speaks to an audience about
the importance of protecting nature, the question most often asked
is, What can I do? Take the "Nature Challenge".
The David Suzuki Foundation has researched the 10 most effective ways
we can help conserve nature and improve our quality of life.

Understanding Radiation
We cannot
eliminate radiation from our environment. We can, however, reduce our
risks by controlling our exposure to it. Understanding radiation and radioactivity
will help you make informed decisions about your exposure.
